They've lasted longer than my SRAM sintered, have better bite, and make less noise.

My son’s Stumpy has SRAM Code 200/200 brakes; I have SRAM Guide R 200/180. I stop better than he does, so he’s convinced. Fall is here along with the heavy rains so I’ll get to test them in wet conditions, but so far the pads are lasting longer than my OEM SRAM sintered (about 20% longer by my estimation), and they’re quieter and bite better as well. I’m absolutely sold on these pads.
Michael
I put these on my XC hard tail race bike with SLX 7000 brakes, and they now feel very similar to my XT 8000 equipped full suspension bike. Zero fade and they have greatly improved the overall braking. I can’t wait to get a set on my full suspension bike to see what they do for the braking. Great product and amazing customer service.
Mike
Installed a set on my Trek Powerfly ebike, after a buddy recommended them. Excellent stopping power, super quiet. I’m a fan!

Hey guys, I received the gold shiny brake pads and installed in my nuke proof mega, I’m deeply pleased with the performance, thx.
Joe
The pads are silent, do not lose clamping power from heat, and the modulation is perfect. You can just keep slowly squeezing the front brake lever ’til the rear tire starts to come off the ground. I’m not on an e-bike, but run the Gold pads as I weight 220+15lb pack, then the bike. Thanks for the great product and choices.

I have to say how amazing these gold pads are in my ebike. Absolute confidence in them and no fade at all. Just constant and consistent stopping power. That’s impressive for an ebike bombing down the wasatch crest where I’ve overheated my xc bike pads before. Whatever your doing to make these it’s working!

Very strong initial bite. Made the saints grab harder than it did before. Went on a 3000ft descent without any brake fade and without any noise. With such a strong bite, you can do all your braking really close to the entry point of the corner. With pads costing less than OEM and performing better than OEM, I will continue to buy mtx pads.
John
Put these on my ebike. I’m a 220 expert enduro racer and these pads made a huge difference. More braking power than the Shimano semi-metallic and quite and initial bite like organic pads. Best of both worlds. Awesome product and huge upgrade as I like to ride steep, techy stuff and not being able to stop has always been on the back of my mind, not anymore.
Jeff
They’re awesome!!! I have hundreds of miles on them now and they’ve worked amazing from runs down Mammoth Mtn to laps on my local trails, they are silent and the modulation is nothing short of amazing! I still have the original gold sets in and have purchased a red set to try next! I have told all the buddies I ride with and many of them are running them now too! Thank you for the original hook up, word of mouth is working!
Phil
Great confidence boosting, strong stopping brake pads with less effort. I previously rode Shimano J04C metallic pads for years, IMO these bite better. I would estimate, maybe 30-35% better. For me, these take a little bit longer to bed in, maybe a couple more DH descents, but worth the wait. I’m about 190 lbs with gear, non-ebike and have no problem with these. I don’t notice brake squeal while riding and don’t have any problem with modulation. I love how the price point begs me to buy more. For sure, I will get more for my Saint calipers and these will be my go to over OEM.

I’m the guy who was losing his mind over screeching brakes a while back. I ended up buying some new “Gold” pads from MXT Braking, which not only solved the problem, but made my brakes substantially better. I liked them so much I got a set for my wife, and HER RIDING SPEED IMPROVED! She says that she has a lot more confidence in her brakes, so she feels better about going faster. Best replacement parts I’ve ever bought, recommend you get some too. Also some of the best customer service I’ve ever experienced, did an extensive online “chat” with Ben, who advised me what to buy then sent them out the same day, got here in 2 days.

Ok, bought the Gold pads over the winter and finally got out to try them. They are as advertised, nice and quiet and feel great too. Haven’t been this happy about brake pads ever! Thnx to MTX for making a great product.
Mike
This is my second set of pads for my ebike. Got my first set over a year ago, probably 1,000+ miles since then. Rear pads just starting to show significant wear now, maybe a little bit of noise now and then. Excellent stopping power for a heavier bike!
Eric S
Ordered the Gold HD pads to replace the stock TRP pads. First ride I was blown away by the performance! Quiet, tons of power and easy to modulate! Perfect fit from the OEM pads. The power was impressive especially for a 55lb eBike. Going to order these for all of my bikes! Thank you!
Don P
Great response team. Fast shipping. Superior product. Satisfied with a set of Gold for my SRAM Guide, and just received another Gold set for my Magura MT5. Flew over handle bar first time out on both sets. Be prepared for extreme stopping power. So quiet, it sneaks up on you. Thanks for great service, delivery and product MTX team!!
John
50 miles on the Gold 131’s front and rear on a Giant Trance E+Pro 2021 3, 29er. Avg 23 miles a day at Corner Canyon, even 98 degree days the brakes are amazing. I’m a brake dragger, the front rotor appears to have ‘some’ flutter, the back is fine, wonder if it’s smart to replace the rotor as it bends easily. 700 miles total on the e bike, thrilled to see your brakes featured in Go Ride SLC these days.
Stuart
Just a quick thank you for the pads. I’ve them on my ibis ripmo using Shimano xt brakes.
What a difference!! Amazing performance, I like my brakes sharp and these pads are hands down the best that I’ve used. Better power now than my saints! Pemberton has some long descents with lots of braking and I don’t get fade with these pads. Looking forward to putting a set on the saints on my Ebike.
Mark Maxwell
These pads are a really good upgrade. I feel like I have far greater control over my bike with these. I’ve ridden every pad material. This was the stuff I was looking for.
Brian
I bought a full set of the gold pads for my Magura MT5s and all I can say is wow! Took them out to Pisgah and the only time they ever made a sound was when wet. The Magura Rs would squeal once they got wet and never stop ever again. The stopping power is excellent too! These are the pads that should ship with Magura MT5 brakes. Thanks for an awesome product!

I’m running Code RSC’s on both my trail and enduro bike. I was initially running the Reds, but I also had to try the Golds up front out of curiosity. Weighing in at just 145lbs, the Golds give me absolutely bonkers stopping power – even more than the SRAM sintered pads. Just a light pull of the lever drops the anchor and wants to throw me over the bars when there’s enough grip, but at the same time, there’s still enough modulation to feel the grip underneath me and not lock up over looser dirt.
Compared to the Reds, the Golds give max braking power at a lighter lever pull while trading off a bit of feel and modulation. The massive stopping power of the Golds feels amazing on fast trails when I need to scrub speed very quickly, whereas the Reds give amazing feel for braking grip on those steep, loose, blown out summer trails.
Due to some of the more medium-speed tech, and steep, loose, sketchy stuff that I tend to seek out around here, I’ve found that the Reds are my go-to for everyday trail riding. For bike park days on my enduro bike, the Golds are the ticket. The train-stopping power helps fight forearm and hand fatigue, since I barely have to squeeze the levers to brake really hard, and brake fade is a non-issue. If I lived somewhere with more high-speed flow where the dirt doesn’t get blown out in the summer, I’d probably run the Golds full time.
As a bonus, both the Reds and Golds bed in very quickly – they start to grab hard after just a few pulls, and they’re fully bedded in by the end of the first downhill. Given how quickly they bed in, it’s quick and easy to swap back and forth between the two materials.
Lastly, I should mention that I’ve received absolutely top-notch customer service and response from Ben (and I’m sure the rest of the team is equally great). Both an excellent product and customer service – it doesn’t get any better than that.

Simply put, these are far, far better than the stock SRAM Code brake pads in every regard. I’ve been running them for 4 months now. They’ve got more bite, equal modulation, are quieter, and last longer. Customer service is great too – I shot them an email before I placed my order to decide if Reds or Golds were right for me, and got a response in less than 10 minutes.
Steve
My analogy…
The difference between slicing cold butter and warm butter. The OEM Shimano metal pads were grabby, chunky and difficult to get a clean slice versus the MTX Golds that are smooth, clean and easily cut.
600 miles later, I need more.

Picked up a set for my Orbea Wild FS H10 e MTB to replace original stock resin front pads with cooling fins. My rides include a lot of high speed and technical downhill and I’m 200lbs. I’ve been using for a couple of months and about 400 miles. I had already replaced my stock rear resins with Shimano metallics so had a good contrast. The MTX Golds have similar bite to metallics and a similar feel and ability to modulate to the resins–so best of both worlds. Yes there is some occasional noise depending on how much heat I have in the brakes but it usually goes away as I get further into the ride. The brake noise is intermittent and nowhere near as bad as the Shimano metallics. Haven’t noticed any fade. Overall I highly recommend and have already bought 2 more sets–1 to replace my rear metallic pads and 1 to keep spare.

I am a certified Clydesdale (260lbs) and have to say these pads are far and away the best stoppers I’ve found! Descending a 3+mile singletrack in the wilds of Alaska after 22 miles of trail riding to get there, these pads did not fade, did not get grabby, did nothing but work flawlessly the entire ride, and many rides after. Will be buying these pads for as long as I have my e-bike!
Kurt
I fear the day these pads are no longer available, may that never come. The gold one is the perfect blend for me being a heavy rider on a Trek Rail 5. The modulation is spot on and more than enough power to stop on steep decent and to boot they are mostly silent, at most a little grind but never a loud squeal.
Lukas
After using MTX Gold pads on my ebike I will not use anything else. Pair these with a 223mm rotor and you will have all the stopping power you will ever need. No need to upgrade to a expensive leavers and calipers. As long as they are 4pot of reasonable quality, just upgrade to these pads and a large set of rotors. You will never look back!
Jeff
2nd set. My first set replaced the Shimano pads it came with. Instantly found they had more power and as a bonus they’re quiet! I weigh 250 lbs so a Clydesdale at least. I need that extra power and the fact they’re quiet unlike the Shimano ones just makes the ride a little better. I’ll continue to buy them as long as they make ‘em! I had my bike in for service and they told me my brakes were wearing thin and did I want them to replace them. I asked if the had MTX pads. When they told me they didn’t I said I’d take care of it and ordered my second set. Got almost a year out of them so they hold up well too.

I am a large man who rides large. I have three bikes; E-bike with Code brakes, Enduro bike with Code brakes, and trail bike with G2 brakes. I was considering upgrading my trail bike to Code brakes…until my LBS suggested I try MTX Gold pads. Thanks for saving me $700 boys. These pads are incredibly aggressive, assertive and hard-biting from the get-go. They are very quiet for this application, they don’t fade and man oh man do they scrub speed in a hurry. The hardest part is learning the feel and how not to over-brake. I immediately upgraded my son’s Stumpy w G2 brakes to Gold pads as well, and I’m converting all my bikes over so I have consistency across my quiver. I am a brand loyal kind of guy, and believe in sticking with the same brand for the same components. It took a lot to push me off that and onto MTX. I’m glad I did. These guys know what they are about!
Brandon
Day 1 awesome pads!! Turned my SRAM G2R brakes into something that I actually love! I was going to swap brake systems until I got these. Totally changed the feel and bite of my brakes immediately! Great control but plenty of power if needed. I’m 225 lbs and the SRAM pads just would not cut it, so I replaced them with these and kept my HS2 rotors and I’m totally sold! Todays ride was muddy, wet and everything in between and the brakes kept biting. Got noisy with the water but that’s to be expected. As soon as they dried they quieted right up. When they are dry they are even quieter than the SRAMs they replaced! The only thing I can suggest is to make sure your pistons are completely retracted prior to installing if you are using HS2. The wider profile on the rotors makes for a tight fit.
Logan
Wow. I absolutely hated my Sram G2 RSC’s before I got the MTX gold pads. I’m so impressed by how quiet they are, but mostly how powerful they feel compared to any OEM pad. I’ve been telling everyone about these and was compelled to write this review after riding a few bike park days. Any brake I own in the future will have MTX pads.
Ken
I’ve now used both the red labels and gold labels. The gold labels are what I am currently using and overall they are awesome. I’d say slightly more bite than the reds but a little less modulation. I’ve been running them in moon dust conditions this whole summer and I have not noticed any negative impacts on braking. My only complaint would be how noisy they are in the wet. Paired with Saints and 200mm rotor up front and 180mm rear you can’t get a better braking system.
Anthony Fajardo
Amazing! Night and day difference, these gold pads actually give me confidence that my bike will stop as needed.
Bill Butler
Just put these on my Pivot Shuttle AM. Incredible stopping power and modulation. Best addition to my bike, so much better than stock Shimano pads.
John
The best pads bar none! I smoke Shimano pads on the 2-3k’ extended DH runs here in the Wasatch, they don’t hold up. I get brake fade when hot. Shimano pads also glaze up and I have to resurface them every 5-6 rides to keep them at 100%. MTX I do not have to do that. They are consistent on the trail, and don’t go away half way down the DH. Can’t recommend them enough.
Rob Mcfall
Ebike and heavy rider. Chased brake noise and performance until I tried the gold. I’m done with searching and can focus on other areas to improve. Brakes are no longer a fade issue on long descents or a power issue on steep. And no more sanding and cleaning after every ride to ditch the squeal! Wet mud or dry dust, Gold for the win
CFMartin
Bought these even before I bought my new 2022 Decoy 29 which came with Code R’s, these Code’s came with Sintered pads that our absolute junk!!! I was going to just use the Stock SRAM pads until they wore out but they are so bad I couldn’t ride the bike with any confidence knowing how bad the pads were. The stock Sram pads would fade easily, glaze on every ride and squeal like Banshee’s. Popped these Gold Label HD pads in and what a difference. Zero fade and Zero squeal, way better bite and feel, totally happy with these pads so far. I was just about to just junk the whole brake system but thankfully these pads really make a difference.
William
It’s been a while since I had these brakes. I bought the gold label GL131 as a backup to my Shimano N04C metallic brakes on my 4 piston SLX during the pandemic. I was initially concerned with not having the heat fins that come with the Shimano brakes but needed something to continue to ride.
Summary, these brakes are outstanding! They are a direct replacement for all Shimano 4 piston calipers and provide the same performance you would expect on a 4 piston brake system. I currently have them on my rear caliper. I also have a set ready for my front when the time comes. For less price than OEM with same or better performance, you can go wrong. I haven’t noticed any brake fad or any other issues related to heat build up. So the fins on the OEM May be a moot point.
If you typically ride with metallic brakes, I would recommend giving these gold label brakes a try.
Beardo
Awesome pads for a Talaria Sting R MX4 (TRP – GL131). Stock pads were absolutely garbage, made tons of noise and faded quickly, not these bad boys. Once bedded in per your instructions, this big bike really stops. Can’t recommend these enough. Thanks for an awesome and effective product.
Ditch the zeros, get with the heros.
